While for many sectors, the world in lockdown has caused economic armageddon, for ed-tech it has acted as a hyper-accelerator, where such is the increase in demand, firms are struggling to keep up to meet it.

Looking at the number of EdTech companies out of the total of technology companies estimated in the UK, it is small but will grow exponentially as new figures compiled by Dealroom.co for the Digital Economy Council show that UK EdTech is “one of the
fastest-growing in Europe”. Out of our latest estimates of 12,000 UK-based technology companies, only 600 of them are EdTech – just 5% of the total.

Looking at the total 2020 forecast over 2019 vacancies, growth in this niche sector is forecasted at an explosive 71.5%. This is in contrast to the one-fifth Q2 UK GDP contraction of the national economy making it one to watch.
