Pharma Report with Clinical Professionals – Clinical
Clinical Professionals and Vacancysoft
September 2020
As the world grapples with the COVID-19 crisis, the pharmaceuticals sector has been busier than most as the sector desperately tries to develop a vaccine. Equally despite the wider perception that the crisis has been a boon to the sector, in actual terms vacancies have slowed down, first of all, because of lockdown and then because other planned trials have been put on pause. For the UK specifically, as well, the prospect of no-deal Brexit has also cast a long shadow, as programs are diverted to other countries.
- The monthly vacancy activity this year so far is down 32% in the UK, which is a significantly greater dip than any of the EU27 countries.
- In contrast, vacancy volumes across the EU 27 are only down 14% this year so far for clinical roles, with summer volumes on a par with 2019.
- In both the UK and the EU, the biggest drop in vacancies has been in the CRO’s. In the UK, the CRO’s have had a drop in clinical roles of 39%, whereas in the EU activity is down 20%.
