November 2018

The UK government has been heavily focused on Brexit negotiations over the past few months and it could be perceived that the Northern Powerhouse project may have been pushed back on the agenda. However the region has remained buoyant, where in terms of the job market we can see:

  • The total number of vacancies in the North for this year are up on last year’s figures, with the average up by 22%, if growth can continue over November and December this year.
  • Professional Services remains the North’s largest industry for white collar jobs, with a 19% proportion of the total jobs by industry.
  • The trend for IT hiring remains strong, with the profession dominating hiring for the North with 32% of the total proportion of vacancies, up by 1% from last year.
