Regional Trends Report – South

While the UK economy is projected to dip in 2019, due to the drag on business investment thanks to the ongoing political uncertainty, the South East is forecast to deliver the highest economic growth overall where key trends emerging include:

  • There was an increase of 5% in professional vacancies across the South in 2018. However, this has subsequently slowed down in the first quarter of 2019.
  • Across the South West, a move to expand services is driving employment, with vacancies up 14%, with the digital sector becoming one of the success stories.
  • The East of England is the fastest growing region across the south, with vacancies up 17% year on year, with demand for talent in Cambridge strong across many industries.
