October 2020

As 2020 draws to a close, the impact of the covid crisis has been manifesting in a multitude of ways for people working in IT and Development specifically.

Equally, there is no doubt that as a result of the covid crisis recruitment has slowed down across the board. For people in IT, the drop year on year has been 35%. The lockdown period does account for a big proportion of this and once we have the full year data, it is probable that the year-on-year dip is smaller, nonetheless, it is still a staggering drop in activity.

For Developers specifically, volumes are down 24%, where what this means is that proportional development now makes up a larger part of the IT roles than ever before, up from 28% in 2019 to 33% so far this year.
