As more lawyers qualify to the profession, becoming an equity partner is becoming increasingly challenging. Research conducted shows that wheras twenty years ago the typical lawyer could make partnership within seven years, now it is taking up to ten for that to happen.

With that, Partners are becoming increasingly likely to be headhunted. Where in decades past, this was a real outlier, now over one in three partner appointments is as a result of them being recruited into the role.
