Annual Summit – February 25

How the £80bn Industrial Strategy Is reshaping the UK jobs market

With the Labour Government now having been in power for a year, their policy program to boost the UK economy and labour market, is becoming apparent. Their flagship policy, the IS-8, is designed to boost the leading hi tech industries in the UK, through Government stimulus and through facilitating direct foreign investment. This is already manifesting.

  • Over £8.3 billion to be invested into cleantech over this Parliament, with SMR technology seen to be a key element.
  • In Telecoms, Project Gigabit will require over £5 billion in investment.
  • The British Business Bank has committed £4 billion to support all IS-8 sectors, through lending on preferential terms.
  • Overall, £80 billion in Government spending across the eight industries identified as being of strategic importance.

In this summit therefore, we will be analysing how IS8 policies are already impacting the job market, and will be looking at where the key emerging areas of growth are likely to be as a result.

Against this backdrop the change in the geopolitical order is sending shockwaves through Europe. The Ukraine war continues, Venezuela is now a focal point, and the questions over Taiwan remain. EU countries are militarizing, is the peace dividend now dead? If so what will this mean for the Government’s budget?

With all this in mind, to provide a comprehensive view of the current job market, we have collaborated with APSCo, Morgan McKinley, CPL Life Sciences, Hays, Sanderson, Henderson Scott, Mercury CRM and Tech UK to produce an in-depth report on the changes by industry and region. This report therefore highlights the major trends we’ve observed, identifies sectors to watch, explores shifts in in-demand skills, and showcases businesses that have outperformed expectations in their respective areas.

We are excited to share our findings at an exclusive event in London on February 25. Attendees will receive a full copy of the report and have the opportunity to participate in an interactive panel session following the presentation. The session will be moderated by Sam Hurley, UK Managing Director of APSCo, and feature insights from Kalpesh Baxi, Partner at Baxfield and former SThree executive, as well as tbc. This event is a must-attend for those looking to analyze 2025 trends and gain actionable insights for the year ahead. Spaces are limited, so we encourage you to register now to secure your place!
